Hygiene and prevention measures of CALIMA SURF SLU
Prevention for our employees
Before going to work
- If you have any symptoms (cough, fever, difficulty breathing, etc.) that could be associated with COVID-19, you should not go to work. Contact the COVID-19 hotline in your autonomous community or your primary care center and follow their instructions.
- If you have been in close contact or have shared space without keeping interpersonal distance with a person affected by COVID-19, you should not go to the workplace, even in the absence of symptoms, for at least 14 days.
- If you are vulnerable due to age, pregnancy or previous medical conditions, you should not go to the workplace. If you are unable to perform the tasks remotely, you should contact a doctor to certify, if necessary, that you must remain in isolation for work purposes.
Commuting to and from work
- Whenever possible, prioritize mobility options that best ensure interpersonal distance of approximately 2 meters.
- When walking, cycling or motorcycling to work, it is not necessary to wear a mask. Interpersonal distance should be kept when walking on the street.
- If you have to travel in a car, you should take extreme measures to keep the vehicle clean.
- When traveling by public transport, interpersonal distance should be kept with fellow passengers. The use of a hygienic mask is mandatory.
Spacing / Capacity
- The capacity of the establishment will be reduced according to the recommendations established by the competent authorities at any given time. In our case, 3 people is the maximum capacity including the employee.
- All activities that can be moved outdoors will be carried out in the open air, guaranteeing a distance of 2 meters between people at all times.
Surf school and store
- All workers have permanently available in the workplace hydroalcoholic gels or disinfectants with virucidal activity authorized and registered by the Ministry of Health for hand cleaning, or when this is not possible, soap and water.
- Workers are obliged to carry out periodic ventilation of the facilities on a daily basis and for a period of five minutes.
- Workers are provided with protective equipment appropriate to the level of risk: reusable masks, gloves in different sizes, alcohol gel, soap and paper for effective hand hygiene. Personnel are trained and informed about the correct use of this protective equipment, and there are informative posters.
- At least twice a day, the facilities are cleaned and disinfected, paying special attention to the most frequently touched surfaces such as door knobs, counters, furniture, floors, telephones, hangers, POS, and other similar items.
- At each shift change, cleaning and disinfection of the work stations shall be carried out.
- Toilets shall not be used by customers, except when strictly necessary. In the latter case, toilets, faucets and door knobs shall be cleaned immediately.
- The distance between the salesperson or instructor and the customer during the entire customer service process shall be at least one meter when protective elements or barriers are in place, or approximately two meters without these elements.
- Two-meter interpersonal safety distance between customers, with markings on the ground, or through the use of bollards, signage and signage.
- At the entrance of the premises we provide the public with dispensers of hydroalcoholic gels or disinfectants with virucidal activity authorized and registered by the Ministry of Health.
- The fitting rooms are to be used by one person only and in the case of special garments, such as bikinis and swimsuits, they are cleaned and disinfected after use.
- In the event that a customer tries on a garment that is not subsequently purchased, we have implemented measures to ensure that the garment is sanitized before it is provided to other customers. This measure also applies to garment returns made by customers.
- The garment will be left off display, sprayed with products approved by the Ministry of Health and then put back on sale.
Disinfection of equipment
- Disinfection of wetsuits: Following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, we disinfect our wetsuits with a 1% aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite (bleach), with application times ≥ 15 minutes, ensuring that the solution reaches all corners and parts of the equipment (total immersion).
- Disinfection of surfboards or kite equipment:
- After lessons: Due to their use, surfboards and kite equipment do not have direct contact with mucous membranes. The participants of the lessons are using the equipment predominantly in the salt water and the equipment is constantly exposed to the sun. When the surfboards return to the store, with the exception of the instructor, any possible contact of the participants with the boards is avoided. In this case, additional disinfection is not necessary. The bars, harnesses and kiteboard taps are disinfected with anti-virucid products.
- After rental: After each rental the equipment is disinfected with anti-virus products recommended by Spanish Ministry of Health, or left exposed to direct sunlight for approx. one hour on each side. The surface of the boards exposed to direct sunlight shall exceed a minimum temperature of 60 degrees to eliminate the risk of contagion. The bars, harnesses and kiteboard taps are disinfected with anti-virucid products.
Bathrooms
- We have increased the usual cleaning frequency, also incorporating contact surface disinfection.
- Frequent contact surfaces are sanitized with a disinfectant product with bactericidal and virucidal properties.
- We do not use cloth towels. They are replaced by disposable paper napkins.
- Used napkins are placed in a bucket with open or pedal-operated opening.
Continuous contact points (knobs, faucets, switches, etc.)
- As a complement to the cleaning procedure of the center’s spaces described above, and with the same frequency (every “cycle”), a continuous disinfection of surfaces and points of contact with disinfectant solution is performed.
- We inform customers about the need to use hydroalcoholic gel, which is available in dispensers, as well as the convenience of minimizing contact with any surface.
After work
- Workers should take care of distances and hygiene and infection prevention measures at home as well, especially if they live with people from risk groups.
- In the case of work uniforms or similar, they shall be bagged and closed, and shall be taken to the point where they are usually washed, with a full wash cycle at a temperature of between 60 and 90 ºC being recommended.
Waste management
- Ordinary waste management will continue to be carried out in the usual way, respecting waste separation protocols.
- It is recommended that tissues used by personnel for hand drying or for compliance with “respiratory etiquette” be disposed of in garbage cans or containers protected by a lid and, if possible, pedal-operated.
- All personal hygiene material (masks, latex gloves, etc.) should be deposited in the residual fraction (grouping of household waste obtained after separate collection).
- In the event that a worker develops symptoms while at work, the container in which he/she has deposited tissues or other used products should be isolated. This garbage bag should be removed and placed in a second garbage bag, with zipper, to be deposited in the rest fraction.
- The person in charge of removing the contents of the garbage cans should do so with protection (PPE). Once the bags have been removed, hands should be washed for at least two minutes and disinfected with a hydroalcoholic solution.
Organizational measures
- In accordance with occupational risk prevention (ORP) regulations, inform personnel in a reliable and updated manner about the health recommendations to be followed individually.
- Provide personnel with the necessary hygiene products to be able to follow individual recommendations, adapted to each specific activity.
- A sufficient supply of cleaning materials must be maintained in order to be able to carry out daily reinforced sanitization tasks. These include bleach and products authorized by the Ministry of Health for disinfection.

- Adopt specific measures to minimize the risk of transmission to particularly sensitive workers.
